Artisans \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/hand-tufted-rugs\"\u003ehand-tuft\u003c\/a\u003e 100% New Zealand wool into a cotton canvas backing, shear the pile level and hand-carve the edges of the disc and the crescent so the curves stay true all the way round. The eight-point star is tufted at a raised height and carved along both sides, so it lifts off the navy and throws a fine shadow.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA design this simple is unforgiving. With large, flat fields of a single colour there is nowhere for a fault to hide — the dyeing has to be even across the whole rug and every curve has to be clean.
