Artisans hand-tuft \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/wool-rugs\"\u003e100% New Zealand wool\u003c\/a\u003e into a cotton canvas backing using a hand-held tufting gun, then carve each petal edge by hand.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe difficulty here is the layering. Each rose is built from several tones of blue stacked over one another, and the petal edges have to stay soft rather than sharp — a hard carved line would turn a painted flower into a cut-out.
